Helping Hands - 3rd Grade, Tuesday, December 6th
Center School Helping Hands is a school-wide effort that provides our students an opportunity to work as grade level teams to make a difference by making sandwiches to help feed the hungry. Helping Hands is a collective endeavor that depends on the generosity of our Peace Builders community; and we anticipate another successful year!
WHAT TO BRING:
Each family may voluntarily send in with your child sandwich meat, cheese, and bread to make sandwiches on their designated day. We suggest 1lb. meat; ½ lb. cheese; two loaves of bread, although any donated amount is appreciated. The number of sandwiches delivered each month will depend on donations.
This month we are still in need of ziploc sandwich bags!
WHO MAY COME:
Siblings are more than welcome to make sandwiches too. For example, this month will be with 3rd graders. If you have a 3rd grader and a 1st grader, feel free to send the 1st grader to help. The more helping hands the better!!
Holiday Baskets -
Once again the Center School community is collecting new and unused gifts for area children in need. Your child has come home with a letter about a child to shop for. All unwrapped gifts need to be in by the start of school on Thursday December 15th. Gifts will be wrapped on 12/15 starting at 9:00 am in the Community Room. Our snow date will be 12/19. We need MANY volunteers to come in and help us wrap. It's a great day, but lots of work and the more parent volunteers we have the faster we can complete the wrapping. Thank you in advance for your generosity and time! If you are able to volunteer or have any questions please email Amie Tracy at email@example.com
Wanted Book Donations: Copies of the 'One Book One Community' Summer Read -The Trumpet of the Swan
Are you finished with your copy of The Trumpet of the Swan? I will be collecting copies of the book to donate to Springfield elementary schools. Last year we collected almost 200 copies of our summer read, The One & Only Ivan, which went to two Springfield schools. The book donation enabled them to run a similar One Book, One Community program for their 5th graders. Donating your book is an easy way to help our neighboring community!
If you have an unwanted copy of The Trumpet of the Swan please consider donating it. A collection box will be in the schoolMonday, December 5th through Friday, December 9th, or you can drop your copy in a collection box at my house (98 Ellington Street) through Sunday, December 7th. Please contact Beth Paulson if you have any questions at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
