Hello Center Families,
Please join us to walk, ride, or roll to school on the first Walking School Bus tomorrow morning at 8:10 a.m.   We’ll meet at the corner of Hopkins and Longmeadow Streets.  The beginning of the year is always a bit overwhelming with so much information coming your way.  I find it’s a good time to mark my calendar with important dates.  Please see the attached Save the Date Flyer with the many interesting LPS Special Programs Committee events.
Here’s some more  happenings that we know you will enjoy:
  • September 20th:   Fall Carnival 4:30-6:30 on the green.  Click here for details:  https://www.centerschoolpto.com/carnival-942288-396479.html
  • September 20th: Cardinal Spirit Day:  Crazy Socks Day
  • September 26th: Open House.  6:15 to 7:45
  • October 26th: Halloween Hustle: More detailed info coming at Open House!!
  • November 2nd: LEEF Gala: https://www.goleef.org/gala2019/    Please consider supporting LEEF at their major fund raiser of the year.  LEEF funds amazing grants that enrich our students’ learning across the district.  One funded project that each elementary school will enjoy is our “sensory paths”.   You can travel the path at Open House when you cross our connector!  The path provides an opportunity for some very intentional movement breaks for our students...and it’s so much fun!  I’ll share more information about movement in our classrooms soon. Sensory Path
As we approach the end of our first full week, I want to share that your children have been delightful!  They make us smile each day and it’s been a very good beginning.  If you sense that your child might be having any issues with transitions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our teachers for support or to our adjustment counselor, Carol Connery. cconnery@longmeadow.k12.ma.us  We can work together on developing strategies that will ease any lingering worries your child might experience...this is a standing suggestion for any time during your child’s journey with us.

Warm regards,
Donna Hutton, Principal
